Abstract:
The collection contains materials created and collected by the Confucius Institute chapter of the State University of New York at Buffalo (known as the University at Buffalo Confucius Institute or UBCI). Comprising physical and born-digital media, collection materials include documentation of events and activities, official publications issued by the Institute, awards, and signage. A significant portion of the collection is born-digital videos and photographs, all of which document UBCI events except for a promotional video. The collection also includes captures of the Confucius Institute's now-defunct website and some of the embedded PDFs it contained. Collection materials are in English and Chinese and mostly originate from Buffalo and the Western New York area, though some audiovisual content depicts China.

The collection contains a significant amount of amateur and professional audiovisual recordings of Confucius Institute events and a promotional video. The collection also includes a crawl of the Confucius Institute's website. Collection materials are in English and Chinese and mostly originate from Buffalo and the Western New York area, though some audiovisual content depicts China.
Arrangement:
The collection is arranged in four series. Series I contains materials that document Confucius Institute events, including photographs, videos, and ephemeral printed material such as programs, advertisements, and clippings. Series II contains official print and digital publications issued by the Confucius Institute, including annual yearbooks (also known as the annual report), a promotional video, the 2019 self study, promotional brochures, and the organization's website. Within Series I and II, materials are arranged chronologically; where start dates overlap, materials are arranged alphabetically. Series III contains awards and commendations the organization received. Finally, Series IV contains official signage used during events and to mark the Confucius Institute's campus office. Series III and IV are arranged by material type.
