Abstract:
The Joel S. Cohen / The Sticker Dude and Ragged Edge Press collection, circa 1976-2025, documents over 40 years of creative output in mail art, graphic art, poetry and prose. Joel S. Cohen (1947-), also known as The Sticker Dude, is a mail artist, printer, poet, publisher and performer based in New York City, New York. He has operated Ragged Edge Press since co-founding it in 1979. This collection contains finished products and production material for publications, stickers, artistamps, memo pads, rubber stamps and stamp art, ephemera and other printed material. In addition to work by Cohen and his collaborations with others, the collection contains mail art by over 200 other artists, including submissions to Cohen's Millennium Mail Art Project.

Scope and Content:
Collection contains finished products and production materials for publications, stickers, artistamps, postcards, memo pads, rubber stamps, promotional material, ephemera and other printed material. These materials date from circa 1976 to 2023 and originate from the United States. Collection also contains examples of mail art sent from Cohen to others and mail art by others sent to Cohen. While some mail art by others comes from the United States, the collection also contains mail art from other countries, including Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, Russia, Serbia and Spain. Collection material is overwhelmingly in English, but some work by international correspondents is in their respective native languages. Collection materials are all physical except for a web crawl of Cohen's website and the born-digital contents of a floppy disk that mail artist Merlin submitted to Cohen's Millennium Mail Art Project.
Arrangement:
Collection is organized in three series: I. Works and production materials, II. Works by others and correspondence, and III. Mail art publications. Series I is arranged chronologically by date received. Where received date was uncertain, materials were arranged by creation date. Series II is arranged alphabetically by creator with Millennium Mail Art Project submissions arranged in a separate sub-series. Series III is arranged alphabetically by title.
